Ida Red, the little black dress of clogging.
The Clog Wild Cloggers of Alabama have a fun video making the rounds on the internet. Two of their dancers were kicking up their heels at a concert and the singer, Jeff Bates, brought them onstage to perform for the crowd!
The dancers, Kay Trimm and Jan Lankford, reacted as so many of us would in their situation: break into a round of Ida Red, then freestyle until the music ends! Great job, ladies!
Their video reminds me of all the times Ida Red has been a go-to routine over the years. It fits with everything!
With multiple teams over the years, I have danced Ida Red to Christmas songs, patriotic songs, or any random music played by a live band. You can always make it work!
I quite enjoy that the high knees in the choreography make this dance look way more difficult than it actually is.
As a cardio workout, Ida Red can't be beat! Dance it at full speed with all the drag/slide, high knees, and bounce you can muster! The end result should look something like this:
If you don't know this classic routine choreographed by Jeff Driggs, you can find the cuesheet HERE. There are many video teaches available on Youtube.
If I ever find myself in their part of Alabama, I may have to crash a Clog Wild Cloggers dance class! They seem like a hoot!
What songs have YOU paired with Ida Red choreography?
