Clog Camp fun simply does not fit into one post! The adventures continued all day Sunday at Fancy Free Studio.
First order of business: wake up from the slumber party.
Second order of business: clean up and clear the dance floor. Cloggers employed various techniques to deflate air mattresses. I’m not sure Kayla intended to use the “Hey, we’ll all help you!” method, but that’s what she got!
Madison and Alexis utilized the “roll the air out” approach to mattress deflation. Other cloggers simply used pumps. How boring.
A capable kitchen crew cooked up and served a yummy breakfast! Highlights included biscuits and gravy by Molly, and two versions of a breakfast bake recipe (sausage AND bacon) passed down by the great-grandmother of a few campers. Thank you to team grandma Nancy for sharing this delicious dish!
Campers chose yoga with Evie or a walk at the lake with Eliza to finish waking up. This was the first yoga class ever for a few of our dancers. Evie led a wonderful yoga session, wisely including the “lord of the dance” pose.
Those who chose to walk at the lake worked with Eliza to create a story! They shared the story piece by piece with the rest of camp upon their return.
Dustin’s camp dance choreography included a 16-beat intro for dancers to “strut to your places and show some sass.”
Um, not a problem.
Kayla emerged as the clear winner for all 3 rounds of the camper dance-off with music at slow, regular, and warp speed! Evan, Emily, and Jaime took turns winning second place and third place throughout the rounds. Congrats!
The counselors don’t get to sit this out! Molly made it through all 3 rounds of the counselor dance-off without a mistake, but I managed to tie with her on the warp speed round. Otherwise, Sabrena, Eliza, and I bounced around between second place and third place.
Our West Virginia visitors cheered everyone on! We’re so glad this group from Riverside Cloggers (plus Ron, who escaped the camera) made the long drive.
Does it get more “fall” than this? Many tried, many failed, and the successful ended up soaked. Madison gave it a try but came up short this round.
Several kiddos snagged an apple in the second round using Eliza’s dive-right-in technique.
Hello, Tooth Fairy! Myla lost her first tooth snacking on a leftover apple.
If we needed one more pizza for lunch, Evie wouldn’t be able to see out the windshield!
King Evan and Queen Kayla began their reign with the rest of the 2019 Clog Camp royal court with great fanfare.
Following skit performances and a vote by audience applause, the Cat-a-tonics and Fancy Femurs were awarded third place and second place, respectively.
The Dancing Ghosts own bragging rights over the prized “King of the Hill” banner until next year’s clog camp! Congrats!
Thank you to Evie and Ivan for sharing their home for the entire weekend. Thank you to everyone who volunteered time and effort to make this event a success!
