Tuesday night clogging class at Fancy Free Studio is a fixed item in the weekly schedule, but sometimes a clogger has a GOOD reason (as opposed to an emergency bad reason) to take a day off.
The Handsome Gentleman had a work conference which happened to take place at a resort in Florida. We live in Ohio, so the Sunshine State in mid-January sounds pretty good! I promptly invited myself to tag along, and Santa placed a plane ticket under the Christmas tree.
A flight delay in Chicago pushed our arrival way past my bedtime, but this view from our balcony the next day made the hassles of airport security screenings and lack of legroom worth it!
All signs point to a great day! With a majority of hotel guests busy attending conference sessions, I had the recreation areas mostly to myself until late afternoon.
Amelia Island is a nesting place for three endangered or threatened species of sea turtles and the threatened gopher tortoise. They always have right of way!
These turtles at the nature center were not impressed that I once played Raphael in a TMNT skit for clog camp.
While the hotel main pool was gorgeous (and had beverage service), I preferred the solitude of this one for swimming a few laps and catching up on reading.
My teammates pretended to pout about not being invited, but we all know it’s a lie:
They had a fantastic night at clogging class!
When you’re taking a breather at the fun dance, but then they start “Callin’ Baton Rouge.”
These fast-footed birdies (sandpipers, I think) cracked me up!
After a few days of enjoying Florida, I’m happy to be back home and back to clogging class.
However, I do plan to check the locations of any other work conferences on Handsome Gentleman’s schedule!
