Cabin Fever Clogging Workshop in Mansfield, Ohio is a gentle wake-up from winter hibernation. This friendly, one-room workshop, hosted by Buckeye Country Cloggers, gave approximately 130 dancers a first look at routines that will later appear at larger workshops.
Let’s start off with a big THANK YOU to all the folks who kept this workshop running smoothly. Roger, Jeff, and Brian were busy making sound system adjustments while participants registered and greeted each other.
Kim from In Step Dance & Fitness (Clarksburg, WV) is my kind of clogger! We both stopped by Relax, It’s Just Coffee for some liquid dance fuel on our way to the venue.
Our fearless clogging instructors took turns all day bringing new teaches to the stage. It’s no surprise that this routine with a sassy snap move came from Naomi!
Lily from Mountain Rhythm Cloggers won the first Rock Star award of the day! The instructors chose a Rock Star dancer after some routines, using any criteria they wished. Lily won for the “Dance With Your Spurs On” teach by Jeff Driggs.
Other Rock Star winners for the day included:
Andrea from Cincinnati won for Naomi’s teach of “Down The Road Apiece,” a somewhat interactive dance with a group circle (or in our case at the workshop, several. small circles).
“The Guy With The Neck” was unbeatable with his head movements during the “Why Me?” teach by Andrew!
Karen from Buckeye Country Cloggers was named Rock Star of Jeff’s “Happy People” teach because of her Janet Jackson moves.
Josie from Mountain Rhythm Cloggers was the Rock Star of Jeigh and Andrew’s co-teach.
Adalaide (age 8) from New Towne Cloggers won a Rock Star award as the youngest registered dancer for the day.
Janet (forever young) was named the “most seasoned” Rock Star.
Mountain Rhythm Cloggers received a Rock Star award for bringing the most dancers to the workshop, with a total of ten in attendance.
A clogger from Canada won for traveling the longest distance to this workshop.
Yours truly even got one by the end of the day. Thanks, Naomi!
Sweet! During a break, cloggers donated to join a cake walk.
Brian showed off the grand prize of a German chocolate cake, which went to a lucky dancer from New Towne Cloggers.
I was delighted to see Margaret again! We met last year during a class at the World of Clogging Workshop, which was her first clogging workshop ever. She is definitely taller than when I saw her last!
Looking forward to seeing you and your mom in May!
Come lunchtime, everyone rolled out tables and moved chairs to turn the dance floor into a dining hall. Kudos to the concession stand crew! Lines moved quickly, everyone got fed, AND the menu featured BBQ made by Jeff Driggs! YUM!
Andrew (with assist from Naomi) finished the teaching with “Little Willy,” a routine recently selected for the Australian Clogging Association’s National Dance List 2020. CONGRATS!
I had that song stuck in my head for a week.
MillieCate from In Step Dance and Fitness was the sole exhibition act. She gets my personal Rock Star award! Way to go, MillieCate!
Thanks for another fun workshop, Buckeye Country Cloggers! See you next year!
